Returning to the Heart of the Family: Luke + Rebecca’s Delaware City Bridal Shower


There is truly no greater compliment in this industry than when a family invites you back into their lives to capture another milestone. If you’ve been following along, you might remember this amazing crew from last year.


Rebecca’s older sister, Janay, originally reached out to me for an extended family session at Lewes Beach. On the surface, it was a beautiful day capturing their mom, Janay, her husband and their two little girls, and of course, Rebecca and her boyfriend Luke. But underneath the standard family portrait session layout, a massive secret was brewing: Luke was planning to propose.


At the very end of the session, against the backdrop of the Lewes coastline, Luke dropped to one knee. Rebecca said yes, and I was lucky enough to catch every smile. As if the day couldn’t get any sweeter, Janay surprised me afterward with a gorgeous gift basket, the first time a client has ever given me one! It was packed with goodies and a plant in an adorable camera-shaped pot that still sits happily in my space today.


The Next Chapter: A Surprise Bridal Shower


Flash forward to this spring, and my heart skipped a beat when this lovely family reached out again. This time, they were planning a surprise bridal shower for Luke and Rebecca, and they wanted me there to document it.

  • The Venue: The always incredible Petit Social Studio in Delaware City. If you haven't been, it is the absolute perfect intimate backdrop for a celebration like this.
  • The Atmosphere: Filled with just as much warmth, laughter, and tight-knit family love as their beach session.
  • The Parting Gift: Because they are truly the most thoughtful people on the planet, they sent me home with an amazing-smelling hand soap to add to my collection!

Being a photographer isn't just about taking pretty pictures; it’s about watching stories unfold. Watching Luke and Rebecca go from a surprise beach proposal to celebrating their upcoming marriage surrounded by their favorite people is exactly why I love what I do.
